Revenue is a
vanity metric.
Profit is the goal.

You are working harder than ever. You are dropping new collections, packing orders, and watching the sales roll in. But at the end of the month, the math isn't mathing.

It's not your fault. The truth is, nobody teaches fashion founders how to actually cost a product. There is so much confusion around what should be included in your pricing, how much your markup should be, and how your sales channels and brand positioning impact that strategy.

Instead, we are left asking ourselves:

  • Should I be including marketing, and other overheads into my product price?
  • Did I price this right, or did I just guess based on vibes and what my competition is charging?
  • Is my product actually good and how do I know if there is even demand for this product?
  • Is manufacturing meant to be this hard?
  • Why am I sitting on so much deadstock after every drop?
  • If I want to get into stockists or wholesale, do I need to reprice my entire range?
  • How many units should I be planning per run, and how does the strategy differ when its a restock?

Here is the reality: no amount of marketing will save a bad product, or a good product at the wrong price. If you don't have your base set up properly, you are just spending money to grow a business that leaks cash.

This course replaces confusion with absolute clarity. It gives you the frameworks to stop wasting money, stop sitting on deadstock, and start growing your brand profitably.

I started with R10,000 ($600) in my account and a spare room.

In 2020, I founded Rethread as a university project. No funding, no industry experience. I sourced fabric myself and made 10 garments per style. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.

I made every mistake in the book: underpricing because I was scared it would put people off, sitting on deadstock because I was pressured by factories to meet MOQ's, and making product that nobody wanted.

It took me six years to build the systems that actually work. Last year, my clothing brand Rethread made R6.5 million ($398k) in revenue. More importantly, we paid R176,990 ($11k) in tax to SARS - our first properly profitable year.

The frameworks in this course are not recycled business-school theory. Some are designed completely by me, from my personal experience, and refined through real mistakes. I use them every single day at Rethread. Now I am handing them to you.

The Science Behind Why Things Actually Sell.

Every framework I share in this course is grounded in real examples of Rethread products so you can see how these frameworks apply in real-life situations. The 5Fs of product design. The apple costing method. The BCG matrix adapted for fashion. The five-gate filter before you go into production.

You will see exactly how we decide what to make, what to charge, and when to walk away from a style we love but the numbers don't support.

The difference between a brand that grows and a brand that just gets busier is whether the founder understands the business of fashion. This course replaces the guesswork with a proven system you can apply and hand over to your team.

This is an action based course - so prepare to do exactly that - TAKE ACTION!

THE CURRICULUM

What you will build and fix.

 1.

Is Your Product Actually Good?

Stop guessing if people want it.

Most founders skip this step. They assume the product is good, just because they like it and go straight to marketing. This module gives you two frameworks to pressure-test any product before you spend money making it, and shows you how to reverse engineer bestsellers.

WE'RE COVERING

  • The Vitamin vs. Pill framework: how to reverse-engineer bestsellers
  • The 5Fs of product quality: Function, Fit, Fabric, Feeling, Finishes
  • The validation ladder: Signal → Intention → Validation
  • How to use customer reviews as marketing angles, and clues on how to design your next product

You'll leave knowing: Exactly whether your product is commercially strong, what the weakest element is, and the one fix that will have the biggest impact on sales.

 2.

Positioning & Channels

Find your gap. Claim your space. Price where your going.

Your price is the loudest signal of where your brand sits in the market. This module maps your real competitive landscape, finds the white space your brand can own, and shows you exactly how your sales channels change what you keep from every rand you make.

WE'RE COVERING

  • How to build a positioning map and find true white space
  • Why underpricing can sabotage you instead of save you
  • DTC, Consignment, and Wholesale: we debunk the role of each channel and get clear on how it will effect your pricing
  • How to price for the business you want, not just the one you already have

You'll leave knowing: Exactly where your brand sits in the market, who you are actually competing against, and the lowest cut your pricing has to survive across every channel you want to sell through.

 3.

Costing & Pricing

Calculate exactly how much your product costs (COGS) and set the price that future proofs your business.

Pricing is not a guess or a vibe. It is your real cost, marked up for the channels you actually want to sell through, then sanity-checked against your brand positioning. This is the module where the maths gets real, and where you finally recast all your prices using the exact templates we use at Rethread.

WE'RE COVERING

  • The "apple" analogy: what actually goes inside your true cost of goods
  • The 2.5x–4x markup rule and why the wrong choice can sink you
  • The Rethread costing sheet: the exact plug-and-play template we use every day
  • How to pressure-test your price against the real market and your positioning
  • The three adjustment levers if your number comes out too high

You'll leave knowing: Your exact price and profit per unit based on your cost and mark up for every single product in your range.

 4.

Agile Manufacturing & Supply Chain

Learn how to find and vet manufacturers to avoid unnecessary production mistakes.

Manufacturing is where brands quietly break. One maker drops the ball and a whole drop is late. You over-commit on a guess and sit on deadstock for six months. This module maps where you are exposed, shows you how to vet factories properly, and gives you a system to test demand before you spend the money.

WE'RE COVERING

  • How to map your supply chain and find single points of failure
  • How to find new manufacturers and vet them properly
  • The difference between local and international manufacturing, and what option is right for you
  • The "Test, Read and React" production method
  • The manufacturer question list: never wing a factory conversation ever again

You'll leave knowing: Exactly how to strengthen your supply chain, how to vet your current and future manufacturers, and (hopefully) some new leads for manufacturers.

 5.

Assortment, Range Planning & The Five-Gate Filter

Build a range that sells itself and learn to know when to walk away.

One price point limits your brand. A strong range is a deliberate mix of products with different jobs. This module gives you the BCG matrix adapted for small brands, plus a five-question filter to run every new style through before you go into production.

WE'RE COVERING

  • The BCG matrix for product planning: Cash Cows, Stars, Question Marks, Dogs
  • How to build a range that covers Entry, Core, and Hero tiers
  • Psychological anchoring: how a hero piece makes your core look like a steal
  • The five-gate filter: Hard Cut, Adjustment, or Postpone
  • The Rethread collection planning template (the exact template we use to plan units and restocks at Rethread)

You'll leave knowing: The shape of your current range, the gaps that are costing you sales, and a repeatable system for deciding whether any new style is worth making.

// THIS IS FOR YOU IF

You are not willing to be honest about whether your product is actually good.
You have been pricing based on gut feel, competitor research, or what "feels right", and you know that is not a strategy.
You have made mistakes that have cost you money, and you are ready to be honest with yourself about your product and your pricing, and take responsibility by actually doing something about it.
You believe in your brand enough to invest in yourself, and you are willing to get uncomfortable and make changes in order to push the business forward.
You want frameworks you can apply to every product and planning decision going forward, not just this one.
You want real examples from a real brand, and a founder who is literally in the thick of it, not theory from an internet guru or a random textbook.

// THIS IS NOT FOR YOU IF

You want a get-rich-quick strategy that doesn't require you to do any of the work.
You want to watch the videos but have no intention of actually taking action.
You already have a solid costing system, a clear brand positioning, and a range planning process you trust.
You are not willing to be honest about whether your product is actually good - and get curious about how to make it better.

Your questions,

ONE LAST THING

You can keep doing what you are doing. You can keep guessing at your prices, hoping your manufacturer delivers on time, and wondering why the revenue isn't translating into profit.

Or you can take a weekend, sit down with your real numbers, and finally get absolute clarity on your business.

I made every mistake in this course before I built the frameworks to fix them. I lost money on deadstock. I underpriced for years because I was scared. I had a manufacturer drop the ball and missed an entire season. I know exactly how it feels to work incredibly hard and still feel like your getting absolutely nowhere.

I built these tools because I needed them. They changed my business from a side project into a highly profitable brand. And at R1490/(~$89), this is genuinely the most affordable way I know to hand them to you.

See you inside.
